Lancashire
based Skylandian Pictures are celebrating this week
after gaining the support of 'Lord of the Rings' star
Ian McKellen for their sci-fi action adventure feature
'Displaced'. |
| Ian, who is currently
working on ten episodes of Coronation Street, took time
out of his hectic schedule to meet the crew and provide
a voice-over recording at Granada Studios which will
create a dramatic opener to the film. |

Skylandian
Pictures representatives - Mark Strange, Leyland-based
Producer; Martin Holland, Wigan-based Director together
with Carol Anne Strange and Len Rice, who are documenting
the making of the feature film, spent time with Ian
at Granada Studios to record the voice-over. The feature
film, which has been filmed throughout the North West
without a major budget, is shortly going into post-production. |
| Speaking after the
recording, Mark said: "This is an amazing scoop
for the film and a huge honour to have such a talented
and formidable star such as Ian McKellen providing the
voice-over for Displaced. He kindly took time out of
filming Coronation Street to do this for us and to show
support for our debut feature film." |
| Ian,
who was born in Lancashire, is impressed with the work
Skylandian Pictures has done in bringing 'Displaced'
to completion. The Shakespearean actor who is renowned
for playing the role of Gandalf in the epic `Lord of
the Rings' trilogy wants to be kept informed about the
progress of the feature film and is hoping that the
crew will gain more support so that it can succeed and
place Lancashire on the cinematic map. |

Mark
said: "We wanted Ian to do the voice-over recording
from the start so we were absolutely delighted when
he agreed to do this for us. The timing was just right
as he's currently working in Manchester." |
| After
the recording, Ian spent time with the crew answering
questions for a film documentary of the making of 'Displaced'
which is being made by documentary film-maker, Len Rice
and for a forthcoming book being written by Mark and
his sister, Carol Anne Strange. |
Mark
continued: "Ian is very impressed with what we
are doing and wants us to keep in touch. With his
kind support and belief in the production,
Mark said, "The film will bring recognition to
the hundreds of people who have been involved in the
project and the eyes of the film industry will be
on Lancashire when the debut is released. With Ian
McKellen's presence in the film, we hope to encourage
the necessary support on this final stage of the journey." |
